probably Irish, circa 1760, dentil molded cornice with blind fretwork frieze set with leaf carved corbels, two highly figured mahogany doors opening to adjustable shelved interior, case with fitted desk interior centering an unusual mirrored and figured mahogany architectural door, flanked by two document drawers with leatherbound spines, "The Works of Dryden", shaped tooled leather writing surface, above four long dovetailed drawers with oak linings, set on ogee bracket feet, 91-1/2 x 44-3/4 (at feet) x 25 in.
Provenance: Private Collectiongood condition overall, cornice with minor losses to blind fret moldings, typical minor warping to fall board, brasses replaced, finish/color distress at one case side, original feet with some restored blocking and other repairs, possibly once fitted with additional fittings behind prospect door, other typical scattered cracks, wear, and minor repairs, minor warping to upper doors, small loss to one door molding
