England, circa 1740, in the manner of William Kent, with pitch pediment centering a finely carved cartouche, with shield and diamond arms flanked by falcon's heads, rectangular mirror plate with egg and dart molded frame, 63 x 38 in. - Note: While the dimensions listed in the Mallett catalog are different, this is undoubtedly the same mirror. - Provenance: Mallett, illustrated in the 2013 Mallett catalog pg. 132-133, the Mallett catalog notes that "according to the Renesse's Figures Heraldiques, there is only one family in the British Isles bearing the three lozenges on the crest of this mirror - Costelloe of Castlemore, Edmundstown, County Mayo, descended from Shane MacCostelloe, chief of his name in 1586.
