Together with ten pieces of related Chinese porcelain from the same estate comprising of two tea bowls with pseudo-armorial shields, borders of gold stars on blue, 1-3/4 in.; six bowls and tea bowls painted with flowers, 1-3/4 to 3-1/2 in., largest bowl with small chip and repaired crack, mid-size bowl with crack and chip; cylindrical bitong pen holder with continuous scene of flowers and birds, 4-5/8 in. chip at top rim with two cracks, some enamel eroded around bottom; one flared bowl with dragons, 2-3/8 in.; lot includes four small wooden stands, (total 15 items). Condition: articles in good condition except as noted.

Provenance: Collected by Walker Gill Wylie (1848-1923), by direct descent in family to his great-grandson; Private Savannah, Georgia Collection; Successful bidder will receive a statement from the consignor regarding ownership and descent in family.

The South Carolina Hall of Fame records that Walker Gill Wylie (1848-1923) was born in Chester, South Carolina and educated at South Carolina College (now USC) and at Bellevue Medical College in New York, Dr. Walker Gill Wylie was an accomplished physician and professor who is credited with establishing the first nurses training school in America at Bellevue Hospital in New York. Along with his active medical practice, Dr. Wylie concurrently founded the Catawba Power Company near Fort Mill, South Carolina with his brother, and through his relationship with J.B. Duke combined his growing electric enterprise into what became Duke Power. He was awarded the Boylston Prize from Harvard University and the McMaster Gold Medal from the University of South Carolina.
