(Edgefield, South Carolina, 1811-1881) likely made at Shaw's Creek, Edgefield District, South Carolina, circa 1840-1850, speckled light brown alkaline glaze with creamy light green glaze runs, applied kaolin and iron slip floral motif and "3" capacity mark decorating one side of jar, similar kaolin and iron slip floral motif decorating the other side of jar lacking capacity mark, three impressed hash marks under one of two applied lug handles also indicating capacity, ridged neck, rounded rim, 13-1/2 in., 37-1/4 in. circumference

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.

glaze voids and anomalies as made, minor glaze and clay body frits around belly with light surface wear consistent with age and use, minor rim wear around rim, tiny linear 1/2 in. abrasion to rim, 1-1/2 in. firing separation at lower body as made, wear to base edge including three old shallow 1/2 in. to 1 in. base edge impressions possibly as made, rough area near base edge as made, otherwise very good condition with great presentation
