British or possibly Southern States, 18th century with pierced Gothic splat, rope carved crest rail and rear stiles, shepherds crook arms, possibly original yellow pine slip seat, 38-3/4 in. 

excellent condition overall, patch and repair at one hand grip, later seat blocking (front blocking possibly original), minor distress at joint of arms to rear stiles, old loss at one rear front, other typical surface wear and flaws
