Maryland, circa 1802, hood underside dated 1802, dial signed "Charles Tinges Baltimore", arched painted dial with moon phase, seconds sweep, and date aperture, eight day brass movement, rose painted spandrels, set in a fine inlaid mahogany waisted case with inlaid quarter columns, the hood with scrolled pediment with pierced fretwork, fan inlaid rosettes, quarter fan inlaid tympanum, line inlaid colonettes, inlaid urn finial, 101-1/2 in.Provenance: Private Collection, Charlotte, North Carolina

Condition

original scrolled pediment with glue repair at base, other cracks and minor repairs with color distress to inlaid rosettes, dial paint generally good with even crackle, scattered light wear, some retouch, especially at calendar dial, works and case are a good match (original saddle board), appears to retain original feet and blocking with some breaks and repairs to facings (later black paint at underside of case, bottom board restored and broken from weights falling through)
