British, circa 1640, depicting an expressive King Charles I and Queen Henrietta with their son, Charles II and daughter, Mary Henrietta, fine house with fenced yard in upper right corner and squirrel in oak tree upper left corner, fountain, lion and stag in foreground, various other floral motifs throughout, silk embellished with detached buttonhole elements, needle made lace and metallic thread details on cream silk ground, 12 x 9-5/8 in.; possibly original 17th century Italian carved wood leaf motif frame, 15-1/4 x 12-3/8 in.ÿ - Provenance: Alistair Sampson Antiques Ltd, London; Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey

some losses and lifting of silk at flower between lion and stag and acorns in tree, minor losses to silk on roof, fading, attached to later linen backing and archivally taped to board, frame with losses and surface wear to gesso
