Bellflower and Urn Inlaid Mahogany Pembroke Table attributed to Charleston, South Carolina, circa 1800, line-inlaid oval top with drop leaves, single line inlaid bow-front drawer flanked by urn and floral patera and set on finely tapered legs with line and descending bellflower chain inlay, set on brass casters, white pine, red cedar and cherry secondary, 28-3/4 x 30-1/4 x 41-3/4 in. open, 20-3/4 in. closed. Condition: good condition, drawer facing and skirt with plugged holes from previous brasses, original hinges, some minor abrasions at one leg, other scattered surface wear, stains and surface flaws, one leaf with very small patch at rule joint. Notes: In its unusual use of an oval top with hollow molded edge and cherry flyrail leaf supports, this important table relates to the example in the Kaufman Collection, illustrated in [The Furniture of Charleston 1680-1820], NT-58.
