New York, 1790-1800, finely inlaid shield form back with squared top, crest with lightwood inlaid panel, bellflower inlaid pierced splat with festoons of bellflowers and leafy plumes, serpentine seat with yellow over the rail upholstery with brass tacking, 36-1/2 x 22 x 20 in.

The Levison & Cullen receipt records "the chair retains a beautiful color and is in excellent condition, retaining its original blocks and medial support", crack and minor repair at top of one rear leg, some later nailing to seat frame blocking, other typical minor bumps and wear at legs and edges
