New York, circa 1830, with marble top over a stencil decorated frieze, on bold white column supports with deeply carved and gilt capitals, the back with white marble pilasters centering a mirror plate, stenciled lower shelf, deeply carved and gilt lion paw feet with cornucopia returns, 39 x 44-1/4 x 19 in.
Provenance: John W. Stark House, Springfield, Tennessee
in fine, largely untouched condition, but very fragile (column supports somewhat loose), with original variegated white marble top, probably original surface with losses and distress to gilt and stenciling, shrinkage cracks and surface distress to lower shelf, other typical scattered cracks, probably original mirror plate (not removed for exam), cracks and discoloration at one rear marble pilaster, molding and edge bumps and wear, largely original gilding with scattered losses and minor retouch, especially at toes, some minor chips to marble columns at top
