New England or possibly Caribbean, circa 1820, with exuberantly carved backsplash over a superstructure set with two dovetailed drawers, the case with two long drawers flanked by a cellarette drawer with bottle dividers and a cabinet door, mellow brown color, shield inlaid escutcheons, ebonized drawer pulls, 54-1/2 x 82 x 32 in.
Note: The Christie's cataloging from 2001 indicates that the secondary wood is juglans cinerea - butternut, also called white walnut, and Pinus of the white pine group, by microanalysis.
