Made for the Great Exhibition of 1851 made by Matthew Bland of Halifax, Yorkshire, England, circa 1851, the mirrored backsplash set with an extraordinary carved urn filled with fruit and issuing trailing grapevines to the sides, the top set with three frieze drawers over four cabinet doors in figured mahogany and set with deeply carved grapevines, leaves and flowers on carved skirt and animal paw feet, those doors open to shelved and baize-lined interiors, concave case sides, retains a rich mellow brown-to-red patinated surface, 67 x 90 x 28 in.

Condition

in excellent condition overall, scattered light surface wear and minor veneer flaws, some distress to silvering on mirror plate, very minor breaks, repairs and losses to carved elements
