probably late 19th century, terracotta column krater tapering to a flared foot, with two handles supporting handle plates projecting from a broad rim, decorated in black figure painting with faint remnants of red and incised line work, a chain of palmettes decorates the shoulder, with four animal and figural narrative friezes below, including a hunt scene on horseback, lions, panthers, antelope, boar, and birds, with secondary motifs of rosettes and date palms, 15 x 17-1/2 x 16 in. - Provenance: Estate of Paul W.
