Note: This rare bronze by Jannin is a portrait of Liberté, also known by the model's name of "Marianne" and a representation of the French republic. She forms the basis of the American interpretation, the Statue of Liberty. This bronze is thought to be the one that was exhibited at the Paris Universal Expostion in 1878 by Jannin. This large number of works and of sculptors plainly indicates, however, the warm interest thers is in France in this branch of art, and the large patronage that is given."
