in October 1840 by An Eye Witness by C. N. Newdegate, Illustrator, no place (London), no date, circa 1840, three fine hand-colored lithographed plates in original printed wrappers, loose, as issued, three plates with rhyming captions, with African-American jockeys at the Charleston horse-racing track (1735-1900), 22 x 15 in.; housed in a custom made clamshell case with a morocco spine label, scattered foxing to the wrappers, each plate has some edge wear and creasing, Plate III being the cleanest, Plate I is also slightly soiled.
