Johann Rosel von Rosenhof (German, 1705-1759), Nurnburg: Fleischmann, circa 1746, single volume of Rosel's Insects, Rosel was a German miniature painter, naturalist and entomologist, an important figure in modern entomology, this volume with two title pages, and 36 color plates, several of which fold-out, text and plates, contemporary full leather binding, with five raised bands, elaborately gilt lettered and decorated spine, blindstamped decorations on front and back boards, matching oval stamped decoration on the front and back boards, 8-1/2 x 7 in. very good condition, front board starting to detach.
