Flower Seller, signed lower right "Elizabeth O'Neill Verner", inscribed verso "Hagar Mazyck 1964" and faintly in pencil "Sold/Miss Cornelia Love", pastel on silk on board, 19 x 14-1/2 in.; gold painted wood frame, 20 x 15 in.

Provenance: Miss Cornelia Love, possibly from Chapel Hill, North Carolina (inscription); Private Collection, Charleston, South Carolina

Note:

The inscription may refer to the subject, a resident of Mt. Pleasant named Hagar Mazyck who was born in September 1913. Records name her father as Charles Mazyck, who was 39 when she was born and her mother, Margaret Oree, was 36. She died on 1 December 2014, at the age of 101.

foxing, signature faded, board glued into frame therefore not examined out of frame; frame with some wear

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
