It's Spring and to honor our National Pastime, we offer a wholesome group of cards and memorabilia to include: signed baseballs of Ruth, Aaron, Mays, and Sadaharu Oh; early high grade tobacco cards of Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, and Cy Young; and a nice assortment of 1950s and 60s stars and partial sets. Continental, 19th century, comprising: two urn shaped vessels, decorated with laurels and labelled "Raiz/Ratanea" and "Yerba/Digital", 11 x 6-1/2 x 6-1/2 in.; two cylindrical vessels with gilt scrollwork labelled "Myr:/In Sort:" and "Bals:/Canandens:", 10-1/4 x 4-3/4 x 4-3/4 in.; two with gilt decoration labelled "Emp:/Andea A C:" and "Ung:/Piej:"; two smaller cylindrical vessels with painted floral and foliate designs, matching painted lids, 7-3/4 x 3-3/4 x 3-3/4 in.

Provenance: By Descent in the Fahnestock and Michalis Families, New York

Collected and enjoyed by three generations of a prominent New York family, the following art and objects were housed in the family residences in the Villard Houses on Madison Avenue, Fahnestock Park in the Hudson Valley, and their Summer house in Garrison, New York. The family enjoyed sailing and collected with that passion in mind, acquiring the Buttersworth paintings and other marine art largely in the 1960s and 1970s. Other fine art and objects from this storied family are also included in this auction.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
