(Shimosaka) Wakizashi early Edo period, signed "Aoi-Mon" Yasutsugu Echizen (Shirozaemon Yatsutsuga III), finely engraved and decorated with stylized sword and other decorative devices, brush point with double groove verso with inscription, blade 16-5/8 in., tang with Japanese characters on both sides, maker's mark and signature seal, handle with wrapped cordage over fiber-wrapped ray skin with inlaid stylized gold pommel, menuki depicting roosters with gilt eyes, fuchi with inlaid gold stylized ferns, oval iron tsuba with gold highlights and floral devices, metal spacers and silver habaki, 23 in. overall, lacquered saya (scabbard) with mother-of-pearl speckles, scabbard with losses to lacquer, lacking dagger, scabbard possibly a replacement
