Provenance: Part of the office furnishings of George Irwin Gullett Stephens of Asheville, North Carolina, former owner of the Asheville Citizen Times and one of the founders of Nationsbank; by descent in family; Private Asheville Collectionoriginal finish with extensive wear and stains to top, some minor warping and shrinkage separations, copper hardware replaced, crack and shrinkage separation to lower shelf, several drilled holes in left front post and left side from previous attachments, now removed, some separations between top and front supports, small chip and loss at top of one post, chip and loss at one through tenon, other finish drips, surface wear, and distress throughout
