circa 1740, dial signed "George Crow, Wilmington", with brass and silvered dial with seconds sweep and date aperture, arch with painted bust of a woman, figural spandrels, eight day brass movement, hood with sarcophagus top and turned finial, over blind fretwork carved frieze, waisted case with arched door and bracket feet, highly figured bookmatched walnut base panel, probably white cedar secondary, period pendulum and two weights, 99 x 20 x 10-1/2 in. - Provenance: Sumpter Priddy III, Inc.; Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey

minor surface wear to dial, spandrels likely regilt, painted portrait bust later in date, minor repaired split to top of brass arch, finial replaced, fretwork likely replaced with small losses, feet and bottom board replaced, shrinkage separation and small patch at top of base panel, minor scars to door from hinge attachments coming through, saddle board and case uprights are a good match
