Coffer probably Spanish Colonial, 17th century(?), elaborately carved top with initials "EP" and Gothic rondels centering an eagle with an armorial shield, front set with panels of king and queen facing an elaborate iron lock in the form of a Gothic cathedral, walnut with mahogany floor and backboard, original iron strap hinges, lock and wrought iron side carrying handles, coffer sits into later trestle-form frame, 23 x 50 x 21 in., extensive pest damage especially to side panels, one with large area of loss at top, bottom and backboards old replacements.
