Dutch or French, second half 18th century, depicting Don Quixote (at center left, wearing a sash and plumed hat) attended by ladies in-waiting, two ladies attend directly to his clothes and armor, discarded in the foreground, at left, a parrot sits atop a birdcage, with a diagonal drapery or curtain at middle ground, three ladies lean on a cloth covered table, one turned halfway to look at the viewer while pointing mockingly at Don Quixote, the lady to her right holds a mirror to face him, at center right, Sancho Panza bows to two ladies with his hat in his left hand, at right, a small dog and a monkey holding a ball on a stool face each other in the foreground, lady cuts fabric on a scroll ornamented table and another faces away, holding another swath of fabric, stage like background of Classical architecture with arches, pilasters, and niches with shell motifs, open to a garden, frame style border with beaded ribbon surround and shell/foliate motifs at corners, 135-1/2 × 219-1/2 in. (11 ft. 3-1/2 in. x 18 ft. 3-1/2 in.)

At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
