(Flemish, 1609-1661) Concert of Birds, including a peacock, parrot, cockerel, hawk, herons and others, circa 1650-1680, not apparently signed, oil on canvas, 67 x 48 in. (170.18 x 121.92 cm.); carved and gilt wood frame, 57 x 76-1/8 in.; Note: According to Dr. Fred G. Meijer, "This composition of this "Concert of Birds" exists in many versions, the prime version is by Joannes Fijt (1609-1661). All others appear to be works from his studio or circle. The RKD record mentions a painting auctioned in Rome as the prime version, but I now believe that a painting dated 1658, in the Pokraijinski Museum in Maribor (Slovenia) must be the prime version."
