Classical Landscape with Figures Resting Above a River with Classical Temple Beyond (possibly the pair to 512), unsigned, oil on canvas, 19-3/4 x 30 in.; fine gilt wood and composition frame, crackle, stretcher marks, lined,retouch affecting approximately 30% of surface mostly at edges and in sky; frame with losses and resurfaced. Notes: Dutch and Flemish painters arrived in Rome during the early 17th and 18th centuries and formed a group known as the Schildersbent. They painted Italianate landscapes and town views called [vedute]. Important artists within that group included Jacob de Heusch (1656-1701), Hendrik Frans van Lint (1684-1763), Jan Frans van Bloemen and Gaspar van Wittel..
