British or possibly Newport, Rhode Island, 1760-1780, upholstered back with serpentine crest over serpentine seat set on stop fluted legs with stretchers, beech and other mixed secondary woods, 37-1/2 x 22 x 23 in. - Provenance: Anthony Werneke Antiques, purchased 1998 for $6500 (with copy of receipt); Private Virginia Collection wear and abrasions at front legs, minor repair at medial stretcher attachment, minor pest damage to rails, front seat blocking probably replaced  (other possible restorations to front legs?), modern upholstery in good condition (not examined under upholstery)
