British, mid 18th century, large carved and gilt spread wing phoenix finial, pierced and carved scrolled pediment with carved and gilt appliques, scrolled ears and gilt streamers, pierced and carved base, old distressed mirror plate, mellow old surface, 58 x 26-1/2 in. - Provenance: Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey
appears to have good integrity, finial likely original, breaks and area of restoration to pierced scrolls on pediment, some repairs to lower scrolls, typical warping, veneer and molding cracks, scattered chips, losses, and wear to gilding, original backboards and probably original mirror plate (not removed for exam)
