Qing dynasty, six ebonized and gilt wood panels, upper panels decorated with court figures in outdoor scenes against a mountainous landscape, lower panels decorated with still life displays of flowers and auspicious objects, applied mother of pearl and bone embellishments, metal pin and ring attachments at sides, each panel 47-1/2 x 10-5/8 x 5/8 in., overall approximately 65 in.
Provenance: Collection of U.S. Military Officer Stationed in Asia during the 1940s and 1950s; by descent in familypossibly once an eight panel screen (continuous decoration does not entirely match up), surface dirt layer and accretion, scattered surface scratches and bumps, areas of gilt and paint loss throughout, some rust and corrosion to metal ring and pin attachments
