Qing Dynasty, fronts elaborately decorated with applied urns, flowers and other auspicious objects, applied bone characters and ornaments, set on a gilt and lacquered ground, each with round blue and white porcelain panel at bottom, back with lacquered, painted and parcel gilt flowers, through-tenon hardwood frame, each panel 77-1/2 x 20 in.. Provenance: Madame S. W. Cheng and Moon Gate in Singapore, September 1969. Receipt describes it as "four-panel antique screen inlaid with old Jade and Antique porcelain From: The early Ching - Kang Shi 1662 to Chien - Lung 1736" and "declared to be true and authentic by Mr. T. K. Wong, owner and operator of Foochow Art Gallery in Kowloon, Hong Kong" (accompanied by copy of receipt); Private Collection, Shelby, North Carolina

Condition

painted backs with extensive flaking especially at bottoms, other abrasions and distress, the fronts generally good condition with minor losses to applied ornament
