mid-19th century, unusual red and black lacquer combination, figural gilt decoration, hinged top opening to a fitted interior, trestle-form base with paw feet, 27-1/2 x 25 x 16-1/2 in.. Condition: typical cracks and surface distress throughout with some chips and losses to lacquer, gold paint retouch especially to interior fittings, bag slide lacking fabric bag, some cracks and repairs to lyre supports, other surface distress and flaws.
