The engraved mark on the reverse of this dish signifies that it was once part of the vast porcelain collection assembled by Augustus II the Strong. Pieces bearing this mark are known as 'Johanneum' wares, named after the building in Dresden where portions of the collection were relocated in 1876. In the 1721 inventory, the letter 'I' designates famille verte porcelain.
