Gilt Octagonal Tea Caddy
Chinese, early 19th century, hinged cover with fine gilt decoration, shaped shoulders, alternating panels with stylized devices, interior with two-section pewter inset with engraved covers and gilt lacquered tea leaves inside top cover, conforming body with similar designs, carved and gilt-decorated griffin-form feet, 5-3/4 x 9-1/4 x 6-1/2 in., minor gilt loss overall.
