pale green with whitish inclusions, carved mythical beast with open mouth and carrying baby on back, 1-1/2 x 1-3/4 x 1/2 in.
Note: This object was collected in China in the 1940s by a gentleman stationed in and around Chunking. He was involved in the China-Burma-India Theater and amassed a large group of Asian art.
Chungking which was the headquarters of CBI which oversaw the building of a road to India that would bring in supplies to support the Chinese forces. This set the stage for the collector to purchase Chinese artifacts in support of the Chinese.
This item tested jadeite on the Presidium Gem Tester II.
