Newbury or Charlestown, Massachusetts, circa 1685, possibly made by Thomas Chase (1654-1733) of Newbury, a fine chair in exceptional condition with probably original reddish brown paint, deeply shaped flat arms, remnants of possibly original rush seat, 47-1/2 x 26 x 18 in.

Provenance: handed down in the Chase family of West Newbury; Purchased from granddaughter of George Wadleigh Chase (1845 to 1929) and accompanied by John Vander Sande's notes on the genealogy of the Chase family;  Collection of John B. and Marie-Teresa Vander Sande, Newbury, Massachusetts

Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges.
