Note: Missouri native Josephine Baker (Born Freda Josephine McDonald; June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975) was a dancer, civil rights activist, and French resistance agent who predominantly spent her career in Europe. A symbol of the Jazz age, Baker performed at the Bobino until her death at age 68. For her efforts in the French resistance, she was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur.
