Japanese, hand-formed black raku tea bowl with [Raku] family seal on bottom, 3 x 4-3/4 in.,. Condition: good condition with slight tea staining on inside. Notes: Without an associated [tomobako], it is difficult to state which generation [Raku] made this bowl, if a genuine [Raku] bowl. [Raku XII] would have been contemporaneous with Prof. Bennett’s time in Japan. Included with lot is a copy of [Handmade Culture: Raku Potters, Patrons and Tea Practitioners in Japan] by Morgan Pitelka, current Director of the Carolina Asia Center at UNC Chapel Hill.
