French, mid to third quarter 19th century, bronze bust of Diane de Poitiers stamped "F. Barbedienne Foundry 55" on clock face and bust, seated on a reeded black marble and gilt bronze columnar-form base, gilt mask handles at sides, dial with Roman counters and brass movement, stepped platform base, 26-1/2 in.. Notes: Diane de Poitiers was a French noblewoman and a prominent courtier at the courts of King Francis I and his son, King Henry II of France.. Provenance: N/A
