Four-Tier Box Japanese, late 19th/20th century, gilt concave seashells and other sea life on top and four sides, bridge scenes, landscapes, figures and floral designs, height 13 in.. Condition: very minor nicks to lacquered surface. Notes: Boxes with this decoration were often used in the shell-matching game [Kai Awase], and it likely sat on a platform base.
