Nigerian, probably 19th century, figure of a standing leopard, with long upturned tail, open mouth with exposed teeth, over sized ears, large claws and detailed spots throughout the body, 11-1/2 x 17 x 4-1/4 in.
Notes: The leopard is a prestige object, usually adorning the Shrine of the King of Benin, and used sometimes on the alter of ancestors.
