Provenance: The Estate of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter
Note: Published in "The Craftsmanship of Jimmy Carter", Jimmy Carter, 2018, pg. 50. Regarding this piece, he says "When I first came home from the Navy in 1953, we lived in a government housing project. I didn't have a wood shop but owned the few tools needed on the farm-mostly a saw and hammer. I made this couch out of pine boards, using half-inch ropes for the bottom, and Rosalynn bought the cushion and pillows. We still use it on our back porch, and it is my favorite place to nap." Copy of the book included with this lot.
