Late 19th/early 20th century, sinew sewn, buffalo head decoration, quilled slats with buckskin fringe below, sheath 11-1/4 in., with quilled slats, 17-1/4 in.; with wood handled blade stamped "Aetna Works", 13-1/2 in. long, Provenance: Collection of Courtney Smith, Sr., Highland Springs, Virginia; Brunk Auctions, May, 2007; Estate of Charlie Tate, Asheville, North Carolina
Small area of loose quills, some loose sinew with no apparent bead loss, buckskin fringe with wear and grime, over all dirt, wear and age to un-beaded side of sheath.
