possibly Continental, 18th century, blade marked "INSOLINGIN" and "CLEMENS BIRSCHBAUM" with single 8 in. fuller on each side, twisted brass wire handle wrap, 36-1/8 in. blade, 41-1/2 in. overall handle in excelling condition, blade with dark spots and pitting, guard and blade both cleaned in past. Note: An 18th century blade likely hilted in Scotland; Provenance: Private Collection, Hendersonville, North Carolina
