Portrait of Franz Josef I, Emperor of Austria (1830-1916), signed lower left "Kautzner/1852." and inscribed on hat left with the initials "FJ", oil on canvas, 47-1/2 x 35-1/4 in.;  gilt wood and composition frame, 51-3/4 x 40-3/4 in.

Note: As well as being the Emperor of Austria, Franz Joseph was Apostolic King of Hungary, King of Bohemia, King of Croatia, King of Galicia and Lodomeria, and Grand Duke of Cracow from 1848 until his death in 1916. He was also President of the German Confederation from 1850 to 1866. This portrait depicts him in 1852, early in his reign. Exhibited: New Orleans Museum of Art, 2006
