(Georgia/New York, 1918-2000) Elizabeth, December 1938, signed lower right "A. Oelschig" and inscribed with title and date, graphite on vellum, 5-7/8 x 6-1/2 in. (image); fine gilt wood frame, archival framing,. Condition: toning, hinged in at top, some creasing; frame with abrasions. Notes: Augusta Oelschig has earned a respected place in the growing pantheon of significant southern female artists. She was born in Savannah, Georgia and studied under Lamar Dodd, the same period as this drawing. She held exhibitions first at the Telfair in 1941 and followed at prestigious New York galleries.
