Four fine allegorical paintings representing the Four Seasons, circa 1785-1795: Spring, lovers with a garland of flowers; Summer, lovers fishing; Autumn, lovers with trophies from the hunt and harvest; Winter, lovers beneath mistletoe, each unsigned, oil on oak panels, one painted on a portion of a mail coach sign for the coaching inn, The Swan with Two Necks, Lad Lane, London, Christie's stencils verso "173 CE/947", 15-3/4 x 11-1/2 in.; matching gilt wood frames, 20-1/4 x 15-7/8 in.

Provenance: Christie's, New York, each stencilled verso "173" or "459" and "CE/947 NY"
