Note: A dominant officer stands in the middle of the composition staring directly at the viewer and smoking a pipe while others ready a march. This painting was formerly identified as a work by Pieter Codde (1599-1678) by Dr. Ellen Borger. It was sold by Christie's Amsterdam in 2008 for $36,250. It has been given to Duyter in the recently published catalogue raisonne by Jochai Rosen.
