Fine pair of fan paintings, circa 1690; Bacchanalian Scene, depicting Venus and Adonis; Classical Figures, Cupid by a Harbor, not apparently signed, watercolor, gouache on kid (vellum); fine matching gilt and enamelled frames with vine-decorated, fan-shaped spandrels, 13-1/2 x 24-1/4 in.
Note: A similar fan is held by the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and utilizes the same border and foliate characteristics as this pair. Leonardo Germo's work was among the very best of the period in Italy.
