(British, active circa 1740-1749)Portrait of Hannah Allan (Mrs. Charles Allan), unsigned, oil on canvas, 30-1/4 x 24-3/4 in.; carved and gilt wood frame, 35-1/2 x 30-3/8 in. - Note: A note verso suggests the sitter is the great (4x) grandmother of a former owner. and that she is "Mrs. Allen, grandmother of Anne Elizabeth Tasker, who married John Staniforth Patteson Esq." and initialed "H.T.S.P" possibly for Henry T. Staniforth Patteson. The names likely refer to Hannah Allan (married to Charles Allan.) Their daughter was Susanna Tasker (married to William Tasker) whose daughter was Ann Elzabeth Tasker. - Provenance: Presumed Henry T.
