Painted Windsor Chairs
early 19th century, six dining chairs, each with plank seat and faux bamboo legs, one with inscription under seat "C.W. Dowd(?) Salem", 37-1/2 in.; together with one Windsor armchair in early surface, 38-1/2 in., with checked loose cushions. Condition: all generally good condition, side chairs in later black-painted surfaces, some variation in turnings, one with two later braces at back of crest rail, otherwise well-matched, armchair with one replaced hand grip, all with typical surface wear, abrasions and minor paint losses.
