1840 model musician's sword, marked "Ames Mfg.Co./Chicopee Mass", opposing side of ricasso marked "U.S./G.G.(S.)/1861", faux braided wire grip, 27-1/2 in. blade; 1860 model cavalry saber, marked "C. Roby/W. Chelmsford/Mass", also marked "U.S./1864/A.G.M.", three bar hilt, 34-1/2 in. blade, possibly associated scabbardNote: On the Ames musician's sword, G.G.S., with a faint impression of the final letter, stands for inspector, George G. Ames marking faint and nearly indecipherable on musician's sword, scratches, pitting to blade (mostly at tip), blade likely cut down to current length; cavalry saber with light pitting to blade, possibly cleaned at one time, leather deterioration at grip, scattered abrasions throughout, pitting to scabbard
